Care Me

Terms of Use

Last updated · August 2026

These terms cover your use of Care Me. By installing or opening the app, you agree to them. If something here doesn't work for you, the only ask is that you stop using the app — there's no account to cancel, since there isn't one.

Read this part even if nothing else: Care Me is an informational tool, not medical or dermatological advice. Scores are a heuristic based on an ingredient list read from the label or looked up by barcode, which can be misread, incomplete, or out of date. Always check the actual product label yourself — especially for allergies or skin conditions.

What Care Me is

Care Me scans a product's barcode to look up its ingredient (INCI) list, or reads the list directly from the pack with your camera, and shows a plain-language score built from a transparent ingredient methodology — flagging common irritants, allergens, and pore-clogging ingredients, and rewarding well-known beneficial actives. It's a tool meant to help you compare products faster while shopping — nothing more.

Not medical or safety advice

Nothing in Care Me is medical, dermatological, or safety advice, and it isn't a substitute for reading the actual product packaging, consulting a doctor or dermatologist, or using your own judgment. The scoring is a transparent heuristic and an editorial stance — it is not a regulatory verdict and does not certify a product safe, unsafe, hypoallergenic, or fit for any particular skin type or condition.

Ingredient safety views differ between countries and experts. If you have an allergy, sensitivity, or skin condition, verify the ingredients directly from the packaging every time, and patch-test new products. Don't rely on this app for that decision.

How the reading works

A rating reflects only the ingredient list the app obtained — either read off the label by on-device text recognition, or looked up by barcode. Text recognition can misread, skip, or garble ingredients on curved, glossy, small, or non-Latin-script packaging. Barcode data comes from Open Beauty Facts, an open, crowd-sourced database we don't operate or vet entry-by-entry, so listings can be incomplete, mislabeled, out of date, or attached to the wrong barcode. Either way, the result may not be the product's complete or current formula — always confirm against the physical label.

Your responsibilities

Use the app for personal, informational purposes. Don't rely on it as your sole source for allergy, medical, or safety decisions. Don't attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, or abuse the app.

Purchases

The app offers an optional premium subscription. Subscriptions are billed through your App Store account, renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the period, and can be managed or cancelled in your App Store settings. Prices are shown in the app before you buy.

Ads and the referral program

Instead of subscribing, you can unlock scanning by watching an optional ad (served by Google's AdMob) or by inviting a friend through the in-app referral program — see the Privacy Policy for what each of those involves. Neither is required to use the app; Premium remains the only way to remove ads and the trial limit entirely. We don't control the content of any ad shown and aren't responsible for it.

Ownership

The Care Me app, its design, and its scoring methodology belong to its developer.

No warranty

Care Me is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including any warranty that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that its ratings will be accurate or complete.

Assumption of risk

You use Care Me entirely at your own risk. You are solely responsible for any decision you make about buying, using, or applying a product, and you agree to verify a product's ingredients and suitability from its actual packaging and, where appropriate, with a qualified professional (such as a doctor, dermatologist, or allergist) before relying on it — especially if you have an allergy, sensitivity, or medical condition. You accept that the app's ratings and readings may be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date, and you agree not to hold the developer responsible for that.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the developer of Care Me is not liable for any harm, loss, injury, or damages of any kind — direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential — arising from your use of (or inability to use) the app, or from your reliance on any information it shows you, including any decision made about skincare, cosmetics, or other products based on a score, summary, warning, or ingredient reading the app produced. This applies even if a reading was wrong or a warning failed to appear.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the developer of Care Me from any claims, damages, liabilities, or expenses arising out of your use of the app or your violation of these terms.

Changes

The app and these terms may change over time — features can be added, adjusted, or removed, and this page will be updated with a new date whenever the terms themselves change. Continuing to use the app after an update means you accept the revised terms.

Termination

You can stop using Care Me at any time by simply uninstalling it — there's no account to close. We may also discontinue the app or any part of it at any time.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
